The shower was completely gutted and redone along with the installation of a pocket door. The project did take slightly longer than originally planned but the end result was worth it. From the time we first met Ira and were told that Elite Home Builders could do great things with our kitchen and back room we were excited. Laurie and John, Chicago, IL: Our home is very old and in need of much repair. When Ira first came to give us an estimate he promised us that we would be thrilled with our new kitchen. He wasn't kidding. We had a very limited budget and Ira worked miracles within our limitations. Ira and Robert outlined a plan, for which Robert provided the drawings. When I had gone to Home Depot a couple of years ago, the designer there couldn't put together a plan that looked nice, but Ira and Robert created a great looking kitchen even though I wouldn't let them wall up a window. Robert also saved me from making a serious design mistake. He looked at my choice for countertops and said, "I don't think that you will be happy with this choice." After he approved my revised choices, he selected our new sink and faucets. He has excellent taste. Peter was the person who came to our job every day. He was quietly efficient and his work was meticulous. Every day before he left he cleaned the area. And his cleaning was such that we had no problems tracking stuff through the house, and we never had to perform any additional clean up, he was as thorough as I suspect he would have been in his own home. Not everything goes perfectly in a house over 100 years old. Robert and Peter discovered a potentially dangerous wiring issue when they took out the walls. For a very reasonable cost, they repaired the wiring all the way down to the box in the basement and up to the second floor. When they were finished I had the pleasant surprise of finding an unanticipated new outlet upstairs that I hadn't requested, but was installed as they could plainly see that we didn't have enough existing outlets. And this really amazed me: we have a clock that was taken down and my husband forgot to remind Peter to put it back up when he finalized the project. I mentioned this when Ira called to see how things were going and he scheduled Peter to swing by one afternoon to install it - a 2 minute job. I had spent some time in the field of Quality Assurance and Elite "exceeded expectations" at every phase of the project. I've read all the horror stories in the home sections of the newspapers and magazines. Elite furnished a current certificate of insurance, a copy of their BBB ratings, and plenty of testimonials the first time Ira came to our house. I do not feel that I can adequately describe how happy we have been with our new kitchen and what a stress-free experience it was. Ira, Robert and Peter are very pleasant individuals and it was great having them. Our new kitchen is so great it feels like we moved into a new home! You can NOT go wrong with Ira and Elite Home Builders. I am saving up so I can have them re-do large portions of the rest of the house.
